The Growing Trend Towards the Growing Trend

With sheltering in place and food uncertainty, there is a “growing trend” towards a “growing trend”. The beauty is that you can start small with a small planter, container, or transform your entire backyard into a mini farm. Also, it’s spring time in Atlanta, so it’s the perfect time to get after it.

Still intimidated and don’t know where to start? Here are some truths to empower you.

Anyone Can Grow Food

The thing is you don’t need an acre of land, nor do you need an agriculture degree. A balcony, window boxes or a few planters will suffice.

It’s In the Dirt

Good soil is a miracle worker. Yes you will need to buy it. Get something loaded with nutrients and preferably organic.

You Will Need to Put In Some Work

Unfortunately it does not tend itself. In the North Atlanta summer, you will need to water. Maybe a lot. You will also need to weed and prune and harvest. But the rewards are satisfying and yummy!

The Vegetables Will Be Plentiful and Delicious

There is the fresh taste that is undeniable, and the shock of how much your garden can yield.

Vegetables to Plant Right Now

The Producers

The list below are super producers giving you a high yield.

  1. Tomatoes
  2. Zucchini and Summer Squash
  3. Culinary Herbs
  4. Radishes and Carrots
  5. Salad Greens
  6. Berries
  7. Green Beans
  8. Chard and Kale

You can beautify your surroundings, reduce your carbon footprint, provide a creative and active outlet, and increase your access to nutritious food. Start with an herb planter and few tomato plants if you want, but just start!
