Fall is Here… How to Enjoy Your Home!

Beautiful backyard at twilight that includes a pizza oven and fire pit.

Fall in Atlanta! We are so into it. There’s apple picking in the North Georgia Mountains, hiking treks to the abundant waterfalls and of course drives through the woods for leaf gazing. However, with a few simple upgrades and some planning you can really enjoy being home for fall too! Let’s face it, a lot of us do not like to engage in outdoor activities during our sweltering summer months, unless of course you’re near the lake or pool. Heck most of find sitting outside on our decks a challenge in the summer. But fall temperatures open lots of possibilities for us.

Here are some tips to really enjoy what fall brings while staying put at home.

Patio, Deck, Porch, Backyard Refresh

Is your outdoor furniture looking unappealing and past it’s prime? Consider freshening up the space with new furniture or cushions. In fact, manufacturers and retailers often mark down outdoor furniture for end of summer so it’s a great time! Add blankets, of throws for those cooler nights.

Other elements to really make if feel cozy and room like are rugs, lanterns, or and other hanging lights for ambiance.

Add a Bar Cart

It’s great to have a serving station for drinks and snacks so that you can just remain outside for the evening. Bring out an ice bucket and trash bin too. Then when you are ready to go inside you can just bring the garbage with you.

Porch Swing, Day Bed or Hammock

Want to take the chilling out a step further, consider adding one of these dramatic elements so you can take your relaxing very seriously. They all say welcome and let’s get comfortable to you and your guests.

Al Fresco

A rustic dining table under the trees is a magnificent way to set the stage for a lovely evening. You can have friends bring a dish and host the most wonderful dinner parties under the stars. Splurge on beautiful tableware and fall colors for your table.

Fun and Games

Board Games are a great thing to keep on hand and if you have some lawn space try bocce or cornhole.

Add Fire and Water

Fire pits bring so much to the party! You can go with wood burning or gas. The options range from simple all the way to built-in and permanent. Also consider a water feature. Small fountains provide wonderful ambient noise to create a relaxing mood.

Add a Covered Roof and Landscape Heaters

Want to keep the outdoors going into the winter months? Consider adding a roof and outdoor heaters. The roof will protect you and your furnishings well into the winter months.
