You’re Invited to the Lake Oconee Showcase of Homes

 

The Lake Oconee Showcase of Homes is a tour of homes fundraiser in the Reynolds Lake Oconee community. The event supports Greene County Habitat for Humanity in its mission to provide safe, affordable housing for Greene County, Georgia families.

This year, Karen is excited to be serving as docent for house #6 on the tour. This Showcase Home located at 2691 Linger Longer Drive is the personal residence of builder Bob Hatfield. Karen will be there to answer any questions about the home or Lake Oconee in general, so please be sure to stop by and say hello!

The 2023 Showcase features in-person tours on Saturday, October 21, 2023, and an extensive online auction running October 16-October 22, 2023. The Showcase raises money through sponsorships, donations, ticket sales, and an online auction.

What is the Lake Oconee Showcase of Homes?

The Lake Oconee Showcase of Homes is an annual tour of homes fundraiser in the Reynolds Lake Oconee community. The event supports Greene County Habitat for Humanity in its mission to provide safe, affordable housing for Greene County, Georgia families. You will experience guided tours of some of Lake Oconee’s most spectacular homes and an exciting online auction! Follow our new and innovative fundraising journey and contribute to helping us build homes for our Greene County Habitat families.

When is the 2023 Lake Oconee Showcase of Homes?  

Exclusive in-person tours will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Tickets to the in-person tours will go on sale Thursday, August 31, 2023 and will be limited in number.

The online auction begins Monday, October 16, 2023.

How do I view the 2023 Lake Oconee Showcase of Homes virtual home tours?

The Showcase of Homes is entirely in-person this year. Please be sure to get tickets as soon as they go on sale. We will not broadcast home tour videos this year.

How can I access the online auction?

Auction items and details can be viewed on our Auction page, and instructions to participate will be posted there.

Note: You must register separately through the Auction page in order to access the online auction.

How can I register for the online auction? (in October 2023)

Follow these steps to register to bid on auction items. You can complete these steps prior the start of the auction:

  • On the Auction page, click on the Register to Bid button to view our Auction Items.
  • Click the Sign In or Register button on the top right of the auction page.
  • Click on Register Now.
  • Create your account by inputting your information.
  • Check the Terms and Conditions box.
  • Check the Text Messages box (for bids, purchases, and event announcements).
  • Click Create my GiveSmart Account.
  • Click Ok within the All Set Message to complete Registration.
  • You will receive a Welcome text linking you to browse and bid.

How can I bid on an auction item? (in October 2023)

The following steps are applicable once auction bidding is live starting October 16, 2023:

  • Once you are registered, click on the blue link in the Welcome text to be directed to our Items page.
  • View items by category or search by item number or name.
  • Click the item of interest to view the description as well as the current bid.
  • The system will auto-populate the bid amount based on the set increment for the item.
  • Choose to bid at the set amount or higher.
  • Click Bid.

What is an auto bid and how do I place one? (in October 2023)

The following steps are applicable once auction bidding is live starting October 16, 2023.

An auto bid allows our auction site to automatically bid up to a designated amount for you. The system will bid incrementally up to the amount designated as long as someone else places a bid against you. If no one bids against your auto-bid, the price remains the same.

To place an auto bid:

  • Click the item of interest.
  • Click the Auto Bid Tab.
  • Enter the maximum amount you would like to bid.
  • Click Bid.

Can I bid on the online auction if I do not live in Greene County?

Yes, you may bid on items regardless of where you live!

How do I pick up my Auction Items?

Auction winners will be notified by text at the close of the auction on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. EDT. Local winners may pick up their auction items beginning Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Greene County Habitat for Humanity ReStore (1373 Willow Run Road, Greensboro, GA 706-453-1718) between the hours of 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Out-of-town winners may opt to have their auction items shipped at winners’ expense unless the item can be mailed in a standard envelope. To arrange for shipping your item(s), please email info@lakeoconeeshowcaseofhomes.org.

**You must be at least 21 years old to bid on and pick up alcohol-related auction items. Auction items containing alcohol cannot be shipped but must be picked up in person at the Greene County Habitat for Humanity Restore.

What information do I need for a corporate match donation?

Ask your HR director if your company participates in corporate matches. Greene County Habitat for Humanity is a 501(c)(3) organization. Address: 1373 Willow Run Road, PO Box 321 Greensboro, GA 30642 EIN (Tax ID): 58-2244226. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Where does my donation go? 

All donations go directly to Greene County Habitat for Humanity. The Lake Oconee Showcase of Homes is organized and run by volunteers with a firm goal of minimizing event expenses.
